EVs are changing what tyres need to do. Point S Europe has just launched its new-generation 4 Seasons 3 all-season range for the European market — and the headline for independent retailers is this: the entire range is 100% compatible with electric vehicles.
What’s new
The launch covers two lines: the Point S 4 Seasons 3 for passenger cars, sports cars and SUVs, and the 4 Seasons Van + for vans, commercial vehicles and caravans. Designed in Germany and manufactured in Europe in collaboration with one of the continent’s leading premium tyre manufacturers, the range targets the exact pressures EVs put on rubber.
Electric vehicles punish tyres in specific ways: instant torque, heavier kerb weights from battery packs, and drivers who expect near-silent running. The 4 Seasons 3 answers with EV-specific engineering — enhanced load capacity, optimised rolling resistance, reduced noise levels and improved wear resistance. On the European tyre label, rolling resistance steps up from D to C, with wet grip rated B on specific sizes.
Coverage is broad: more than 50 sizes, including 12 commercial-vehicle sizes and expanded fitment across 17-, 18- and 19-inch diameters — wheel sizes that are increasingly common on electric cars and SUVs.
Independently tested, not just claimed
Point S commissioned TÜV SÜD Product Service to put the 4 Seasons 3 (205/55 R16 94V XL) against three mid-range and three budget rivals, testing on a Volkswagen Golf VIII and Audi A3 in February and March 2026 across wet braking, wet lateral grip, aquaplaning and snow performance.
The numbers are stark. In wet braking from 80 km/h to a standstill, the mid-range tyres needed 2.66 metres more road than the Point S tyre; the budget tyres needed 3.3 metres more. Aquaplaning tests showed a lower risk of grip loss than the competitors, and on snow, the 4 Seasons 3 out-braked and out-accelerated both rival groups.
“Point S 4 Seasons 3 represents a significant step forward for our own-brand tyre range,” said Fabien Bouquet, CEO of Point S International. “The results acquired from TÜV SÜD Product Service’s independent testing demonstrate that the range delivers the levels of safety and performance our customers expect, particularly in the wet.”
Why this matters for your store
Your EV customers are already coming — and many are discovering that their vehicles wear through ordinary tyres faster, and more noisily, than they expected. The retailer who can speak confidently about load ratings, rolling resistance and wear is the retailer who wins the repeat business.
Checking the load index and speed rating against the vehicle’s placard matters even more on heavier EVs. The HILO size finder lists every size in the HILO range by rim diameter.
